THE STAFF
MORYA
Owner / Rider
Morya manages all aspects of the NEC office as well as working part-time as the Principal's Assistant in one of the State's largest Secondary Schools. She has been involved with horses most of her life and has a background in Showjumping and Eventing before that. Although Morya does not compete anymore, she is particularly interested in the flatwork side of the training (under the German system). Husband and wife work as a team at the showjumping competitions and Clive will rely on her to report on the progress of a particular class whilst he is jumping in another arena or warming up.
NADÈGE
Rider / Stable Manager
Nadège, originally from France, has worked at the NEC with us since 2002. Nadège has a sound dressage background with a European influence and was actively competing in Dressage competitions up until the retirement of her horse. Besides her varied skills, Nadège spent many years working in a large veterinary practice and is an asset in our yard when it comes to any equine first aid treatment. Her knowledge and expertise in the area of lunging has also been most beneficial when working and training the young horses. Nadège organises the stable and staff in Clive's absence.
STEPHEN
Showjumping Rider / Working Pupil
Stephen is 16 years of age and after deciding to make a career out of riding horses, he started working for us at the Northern Equestrian Centre mid 2007. He now lives at the NEC after moving here from Mt Gambier. He has been riding since he was five year old with help from his Mum Julie and later from Vicky O’Connell. Stephen is a current member of the EFA – SA Young Rider Showjumping Squad and he also represented SA at the Australian Pony Club National titles in Toowoomba, Queensland in July 2007. Stephen works under Clive’s guidance in all areas from riding through to facility management. Stephen and his little thoroughbred mare Nefertiti got off to a good start winning three classes at three shows since starting here.
KAREN
Stable Hand / Rider
Karen started working part-time at the NEC in 2007. Although she does not ride competitively anymore Karen was a successful competitor prior starting a family. Her main interests now revolve around her two young sons Samuel and Brayden (and her three horses agisted at the NEC). Karen’s role at the NEC is varied including general stable duties, grooming and tacking up. She also assists with some of riding and lunging. Karen is also responsible for ensuring the Indoor Arena facilities are in order after the weekend bookings.
JASON
Stable Hand / Rider
Jason is employed as a Veterinary Assistant for one of the leading veterinary practices North of Adelaide as well as working for us part-time. His role here involves helping with the day-to-day stable duties, organising feed deliveries, general maintenance and preparation of the arenas. In his earlier years Jason rode competitively and also spent a few years working in the Racing Industry riding track work. Jason is a great help with the young horses particularly those needing a "hack-out" on the road. In his spare time, Jason is heavily involved in Karate (Black Belt) training and coaching.
GILL
Show Groom
Gill is a life long friend, with a background in showjumping herself. Clive used to ride her showjumper, Regal Claymore in Grand Prix classes up until his retirement. Gill is still part of the team and helps us at most of the competitions working in the background organising the truck, grooming and saddling all of the horses ready for their events and ensuring they are comfortable with rugs, feed and water etc. Gill also assists with other jobs at the competitions such as helping Clive in the warm-up arena. She is always on hand to help Morya with everything at the NEC on weekends and holidays.

PETER
Handyman
Peter is officially "retired" but has worked part-time at the NEC for a few years now. He is responsible for all areas of maintenance on the property whether stables, paddocks, arenas or the house. Our helpful Handyman is always willing to fill the role of plumber, electrician, carpenter, welder, builder, cabinetmaker, painter, gardener, truck/float repairer, and even designer. We would be lost with out him!
JACKIE
Stable Hand / Rider
Jackie has been coming to the NEC for a couple of years now helping out on Thursday mornings when she is not working her “real” job as a Hairdresser. Jackie competes herself in show horse classes and jumping and is involved with Northern Districts Showjumping Club as a committee member. We appreciate the time she spends here especially when she will get on and ride “anything”, anytime!
MARGRET
Stable Hand
Margret works at the NEC organising the stables on Sundays. She lives with her husband and young son on their own property nearby. Margret is a competent horseperson originally involved in Dressage, but has now turned her hand to Quarter Horses purchasing a young colt that she has just started showing.
SAM
Guest Rider
Sam and her family are long time friends and we enjoy having her here at the NEC each week. Sam was one of our up and coming young showjumping riders a couple of years back before she decided to sell her two showjumpers and have a break from competing. Now living nearby, Sam was keen to get back into riding and we were only to happy to let her ride. It has worked out well with Sam claiming the ride on Elmo whilst he is in our care with Laura working interstate.
