OUR VALUED OWNERS (IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER)

BURRIDGE, Julie

Julie started riding as a child in the UK and her first introduction to the “racing world” was at the British Racing School in Newmarket, England. She has trained under well-known names such as Susan Piggott (wife of the legendary Lester) and Clive Britton. Julie has ridden in the UK, Australia, Japan, Malaysia and New Zealand before finally settling down in Singapore to work in partnership with husband/trainer Steven Burridge.

Julie and husband Steven operate the successful Burridge Racing Stables at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, with approximately 50 horses in work at one time. Julie has a keen interest in the well-being of all the thoroughbreds in their care with a particular focus on feeding regimes and physiotherapy programmes to get the very best out of each horse. Julie spends her mornings riding track work and gallops or taking horses through their barrier tests. www.stevenburridgeracing.com

We first met Julie in 2006 when she purchased the grey warmblood Robert Emmitt to take back to Singapore for jumping and dressage competitions. Although pressure of her racing commitments have since led to her selling “Robbie” on, Julie has not lost her touch for jumping – as we found out recently when she paid us a visit. Not only is Julie one of our valued owners, she has become a great friend. Julie is an accomplished jockey, a competent equestrian rider and most importantly a great horsewoman in every respect (who else would go on a 1000km ride in the Mongolian Desert for charity!).

COONEY, Marcus, Angela & Alice

Marcus and Angela Cooney are originally from Adelaide but have spent most of their married life in Singapore bringing up two children and operating a successful business. They visit Adelaide regularly to catch up with family and friends and give daughter Alice a chance for some extra coaching and competition experience.
Alice is a keen showjumping rider and has her own horse (Belcam Alida) in Singapore which she competes on with success. The family also owns two exceptional horses stabled in our yard that are in our full time care, allowing Alice to compete in South Australia as well.
The Cooney’s own the thoroughbred gelding Galvey Bay and the warmblood gelding Caveton Park Genesis (by Gymnastik Star).
Alice is rarely out of the placings when she competes here and has won several classes on Galvey Bay (and Belcam Alida prior to export). Alice has been a winner of Junior Championship classes, Young Rider Championship classes and was also a member of the winning 2009 State Young Rider Team at the Mt Gambier Show.

DAY, Anne

Anne is originally from the UK and has know us for 12 years having been introduced to him by her mother-in-law, Vanessa Day. We have crossed paths on a number of occasions when the family were living in Hong Kong and then Singapore. Now work has brought them home to Adelaide and we are glad to have them here.
Anne is the owner of the exciting young mare Lolita (by Lux Z out of an Imperial Seal mare). With some fantastic performances already on the board, this C Grade mare is an exciting prospect with a great future. Anne also own a young Trak mare who is not too far away from starting her competition career.
Anne, husband Chris and children Lianna (who enjoys riding) and Max have become very good friends since their return to South Australia and it is great to have their support at the showjumping competitions when they can.

LINDH, Mark & Belinda

Mark and Belinda have two young children and live on a beautiful horse property in the Adelaide Hills close to Mt Barker. From here they manage their team of Polo Ponies as well as their showjumpers. We first met the Lindh’s when Belinda bought a horse to us to jump whilst she was pregnant. Since that time they have bought themselves some extremely nice horses from here in Australia as well as overseas.
Mark, who is a very successful Polo Player and businessman (owner of Adelaide Equity and Partners), has added showjumping to his list of skills, performing extremely well on his warmblood gelding Jokerman, finishing off the year with a great win in the D Grade Showjumping Championship at the Beachport Showjumping Festival just before New Year. Mark leaves no stone unturned to reach his goals and has some great coaches on hand to work with. As well as having regular coaching with Clive, he also has private coaching with Rod Brown, former Australian National Coach and his friend and mentor, Canadian Olympic rider - Jonathan Asselin.
Belinda also has a very nice horse Military Road who she showjumps in official classes with a D Grade win to her credit. She also competes the same horse in Dressage competitions with success. As well as managing the family and the property business, Belinda also has the added responsibility of taking on the role of Event Manager for the Adelaide International Three Day event.
Over the past couple of years, we have all become very close friends and spend a lot of time together. This has led to the Reed-Lindh ownership of several horses including the well-performed Trak mare Tra La La who is successfully competing in classes up to 130cm and the exciting Lux Z mare Lilly who has just started her official showjumping career. 2010 has also seen the inclusion of two foals born in January by Condenta and out of Lilly through surrogate mares.

PHILLIPS, John & Charlma

We have been good friends with the Phillips family for over 10 years. John and Charlma and their two daughters Sarah and Alex live at Caveton Park - a large farming property in Mount Gambier, South Australia.

As well as farming, John has a keen interest in horses which was developed early when Alex was successfully showjumping. Over the years John has become quite a successful breeder of quality warmblood performance horses and today he is still an active member of the Mt Gambier Showjumping Club.

As an owner, he has had some well-performed competition horses in our yard for most of that period – all of which have been sold on to competition homes both interstate and overseas. John currently has two very nice horses here – the brown warmblood mare Tomboy who is out competing, and a youngster named Taku, who if the full brother to Tra La La and has just commenced his training
John’s breeding program has proved successful with quite a few exciting youngsters now running around the Caveton Park property. The breeding includes Lux Z, Contenda, Valhalla, Trak and Jubilee Bay.
In all this time, John has been an absolute pleasure to work with in every respect and John certainly has a good eye for selecting quality horses and we value his expertise and friendship.

For those who are not aware, John is also a very talented singer and musician – heading two bands. Most evenings John and one of his rock bands can be found performing at some of the major night clubs in Hong Kong. His bands are extremely popular and they are sought out performers with a huge fan base - including me!

RODGERS, Nick

Clive first met Nick in Hong Kong many years ago when he was the Chief Riding Instructor at the prestigious Beas River Country Club in Hong Kong and they have since become great friends. Nick is a very competent horseman in every respect, as well as a true gentleman.

Originally trained in the UK, Nick competed with success in all equestrian disciplines and was fortunate to work and train in many professional equestrian yards all over the world. He is a BHS Instructor and was General Manager / Project Manager in RDA Hong Kong for a few years before taking on his latest role as Steward General for the FEI Para-Equestrian discipline. Nick’s current appointment takes him all over the world working with competitors, judges and stewards.

As well as being one of the part-owners of the Hanoverian Mare Kinnordy Serena, Nick also had a couple of other horses in the yard that he has since sold on, including Tra La La. She was a horse that Nick selected un-broken and we are now fortunate to be part owners in her ourselves.
