OUR VALUED OWNERS (IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER)

BURRIDGE, Julie

Julie started riding as a child in the UK and her first introduction to the “racing world” was at the British Racing School in Newmarket, England. She has trained under well-known names such as Susan Piggott (wife of the legendary Lester) and Clive Britton. Julie has ridden in the UK, Australia, Japan, Malaysia and New Zealand before finally settling down in Singapore to work in partnership with husband/trainer Steven Burridge.

Julie and husband Steven operate the successful Burridge Racing Stables at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, with approximately 50 horses in work at one time. Julie has a keen interest in the well-being of all the thoroughbreds in their care with a particular focus on feeding regimes and physiotherapy programmes to get the very best out of each horse. Julie spends her mornings riding track work and gallops or taking horses through their barrier tests. www.stevenburridgeracing.com

We first met Julie in 2006 when she purchased the grey warmblood Robert Emmitt to take back to Singapore for jumping and dressage competitions. Although pressure of her racing commitments have since led to her selling “Robbie” on, Julie has not lost her touch for jumping – as we found out recently when she paid us a visit. Not only is Julie one of our valued owners, she has become a great friend. Julie is an accomplished jockey, a competent equestrian rider and most importantly a great horsewoman in every respect (who else would go on a 1000km ride in the Mongolian Desert for charity!).

COONEY, Marcus, Angela & Alice

Marcus and Angela Cooney are originally from Adelaide but have spent most of their married life in Singapore bringing up two children and operating a successful business. They visit Adelaide regularly to catch up with family and friends and give daughter Alice a chance for some extra coaching and competition experience.
This year will see Alice studying at University in Melbourne and competing in Young Rider classes at some of the bigger shows on the East coast of Australia on her warmblood mare, Belcam Alida. The other three quality showjumpers owned by the Cooney family - thoroughbred gelding Galvey Bay, warmblood gelding Caveton Park Genesis and their new Hannoverian gelding recently imported from overseas - Silvo. -  will be stabled in our yard under our full time care for Alice to compete on when she is in South Australia.
Alice has rarely been out of the placings the past couple of years having won Junior and Young Rider Championship classes as well as some FEI and open classes overseas. Her recent successes here in 2010 on Galvey Bay including winning a round of the Tekna Young Rider Selection Series at Kapunda Agricultural Show and a credible performance at the Australian Showjumping Championships qualifying for the Junior Championship Final finishing with a total of four faults over the two classes.

DAY, Anne

Anne is originally from the UK and has know us for  around 13 or more years having been introduced to us by her mother-in-law, Vanessa Day. We have crossed paths on a number of occasions when the family were living in Hong Kong and then Singapore. Now work has brought them home to Australia and we are glad to have them here.
Anne is the owner of two exciting mares stabled in our yard : B Grade  Showjumper Lolita by Lux Z out of an Imperial Seal mare and the classy youngster Trick or Treat Day, by Trak and out of the same mother as Lolita.
We have become very good friends with Anne and her family (husband Chris and their two children Lianna - who enjoys riding, and Max). It was great to have their support at the local showjumping competitions whilst they lived in Adelaide and even though work commitments have now taken them to Sydney we are sure they will be back to Adelaide regularly to catch up with family and sneak in a show or two!

LINDH, Mark & Belinda

Mark and Belinda have two young children and live on a beautiful, property in the Adelaide Hills close to Mt Barker. They have "purpose-built" their horse facility to  accommodate their string of Polo Ponies, team of Showjumpers and all the young stock they have bred.
Mark, is not only a successful  businessman (Adelaide Equity Partners), but is also a very skilled horseman, leaving no stone unturned to reach his goals.  After making the move to Showjumping only a couple of years ago, Mark has already become a very competitive rider in the senior ranks, performing extremely well with his team of showjumpers - Coolio, Jokerman, Six Pack and Salsa DeRosa - in competitions in Australia and overseas in Canada.
Mark riding his imported horse Coolio won the SA State Country Showjumping Championship, holding the title for 2011/2012.  As well as being self-disciplined and hard working in preparing himself and horses, Mark always strives to improve by working closely with his friends and mentors Clive Reed, Rod Brown and Jonathan Asselin.
Belinda is also a rider with a couple of nice horses (Military Road and  new horse Equus Lulu) who she plans to compete in showjumping and dressage competitions when she gets the chance.  As well as managing the family and the property business, Belinda is also involved in the management side of the Adelaide International Three Day Event.
Our friendship over the years has led to the Reed-Lindh ownership of a couple of Contenda youngsters - a filly we bred out of the late Lux Z showjumping mare Lilly, and a gelding we purchased out of Kinnordy Sabrina.

PHILLIPS, John & Charlma

We have been good friends with the Phillips family for over 10 years. John and Charlma and their two daughters Sarah and Alex live at Caveton Park - a large farming property in Mount Gambier, South Australia.
As well as farming, John has a keen interest in horses which was developed early when Alex was successfully showjumping. Over the years John has become quite a successful breeder of quality warmblood performance horses and today he is still an active member of the Mt Gambier Showjumping Club.
As an owner, he has had some well-performed competition horses in our yard for most of that period – all of which have been sold on to competition homes both interstate and overseas. John currently has a couple oof young horses here – Taku (full brother to Tra La La) who has just started his competition career showing lots of promise, and a nice young mare Caveton Park Bling (by Budweiser out of Swing).
John’s breeding program has proved successful with quite a few exciting youngsters now running around the Caveton Park property. The breeding includes Lux Z, Contenda, Valhalla, Trak and Jubilee Bay.
In all this time, John has been an absolute pleasure to work with in every respect and John certainly has a good eye for selecting quality horses and we value his expertise and friendship.

RODGERS, Nick

Clive first met Nick in Hong Kong many years ago when he was the Chief Riding Instructor at the prestigious Beas River Country Club in Hong Kong and they have since become great friends. Nick is a very competent horseman in every respect, as well as a true gentleman.

Originally trained in the UK, Nick competed with success in all equestrian disciplines and was fortunate to work and train in many professional equestrian yards all over the world. He is a BHS Instructor and was General Manager / Project Manager in RDA Hong Kong for a few years before taking on his latest role as Steward General for the FEI Para-Equestrian discipline. Nick’s current appointment takes him all over the world working with competitors, judges and stewards.

As well as being one of the part-owners of the exciting young Budweiser gelding Brandenburg, Nick also had a couple of other horses in the yard that he has since sold on, including Tra La La. She was a horse that Nick selected un-broken and we are now fortunate to own her ourselves.
