NOVEMBER 2007 NEWS REPORT

It was great to finally have a complete month at home without any overseas or interstate trips. The letter Dr Rob Rahaley from PIRSA wrote for the Singapore Zoo resulted in the Singapore AVA agreeing to accept horses from non-EI infected states of Australia.  There are a few necessary conditions that will need to be finalised with AQIS and the AVA but it is certainly amajor step forward.  I cannot that Rob enough for his support with this matter.

We attended Jill Matten’s 50th Birthday party at Meadows and were glad we could be there to help celebrate.  It was a perfect day and obviously a lot of effort had gone into the organisation. It was also nice to catch up with a few familiar faces.  Well done to Dave and Lauren for making it a memorable day.

Alison Ward purchased Deep Creek, a very nice horse started by Sylvia McLoughlin and then jumped by Michael Goldsworthy.  He is a great mover so Allison should have some fun on him.
We had Sarah Bowman’s horse for some work which went really well and Sarah has had some good results now in medium level dressage tests.  We also had Allanah Johnson’s mare which had proven to be quite hot and difficult.  However, we are pleased to report we are making good progress and hope to have most of her issues sorted out.

Annabel Fairweather has been making good progress with Octavious and has decided to buy him.  I am confident it will work out and wish them every success.

The lessons at Tessa’s place have been getting more in demand.  It was great of her to apply for the permits to have them at her place.  Thank you for organising everything.

The Saturday morning lessons at home have also gone well with Briony Temby riding many different horses here.  Annabel and Ella are regulars as well, with Georgie Boyd and a new girl Rachael Duif also visiting.

All the horses have continued to improve with Traktion (Rocky) getting the changes well.  Trax has been training over the water trays.  Heart of England (Hearty) is really getting it together on the flat and is super over the fences.  Charlie’s flatwork and jumping is coming along very nicely and Will is training in some of the higher level dressage movements. Both Genesis and Kittywaike have also been very impressive.

We are still waiting for approval from the Victorian DPI to allow semen into the State.  Serena has been having a very nice break in one of John Phillips’ fantastic paddocks in Mt Gambier waiting patiently to be rushed back to Victoria to be inseminated.

On the home front Conor was selected to be a part of the Nativity Play at his school’s Year R-5 Christmas Concert.  We were very proud of his efforts as one of the Three Wise Men and he and his fellow reception students sang four Christmas songs as part of the performance.   Conor was very pleased to have Mum, Dad, Nanna Doreen and Nick and Holly there for support on this very special occasion.
