CLIVE REED
Welcome to Reed Equestrian Australia.
Clive Reed is a full time equestrian coach and horse trainer with more than 30 years experience. He is a successful, competitive showjumping rider and respected coach. Together with his wife Morya and a team of dedicated staff he operates a successful equestrian business from his home at the Northern Equestrian Centre in South Australia. The property boasts excellent equestrian training facilities and is situated on the outskirts of Adelaide, only 40 minutes from the city centre. The NEC is very accessible via major roadways and is in close proximity to the famous Barossa valley wine region.
Clive has competed with success in all equestrian disciplines, specialising in Showjumping. He is a sought after rider, employed full time to train and compete on horses for various owners. These owners are residing in different locations of Australia as well as overseas, including Hong Kong and Singapore. The owners have various ambitions and aspirations for their horses. Some would like to see their horses compete at the highest level such as the Olympic Games and others would just like to add value to their horse and sell for a profit.
A highlight of Clive's career came in 1997 when he was invited to Europe to train and compete with Heiner Engemann (currently one of the German National Coaches) and Haulke Luther in Germany . Clive says "It was a tremendous experience from which I gained a great deal of knowledge. During my stay in Germany I had considerable success with a win, a second place, and three other minor placings from only 4 starts. My fellow competitors were amongst the leading showjumping riders in the world."
As an Equestrian Australia (EA) qualified coach, Clive is in great demand for private coaching in all equestrian disciplines. He has been contracted by the EA on many occasions for clinics and schools and is one of the few accredited coaches that has
been used for the SA Young Rider Scholarship and SA Junior Development Program in the area of Showjumping. He has been the State Showjumping Coach for Pony Club SA taking teams to the last three Australian National Championships with success.
Clive regularly coaches overseas and was appointed as the National Showjumping Coach for Singapore in 2007/2008, and still makes regular coaching trips to Singapore coaching at the Singapore Polo Club and Bukit Timah Saddle Club.
Since specialising in Showjumping for the past 30 years, Clive has produced some remarkable performances since the mid 1980's winning many "Championship" events. He has had numerous wins and placings at World Cup Shows, Royal Shows and Australian Championships as well as placings in World Cup Qualifiers on two different horses.
Clive had great success in 2009. Kinnordy Serena won the Sue Munro Cup for the third successive year, won the A&B Circuit classes at Angaston and Mundulla and was second in the 2009 SA State Country Championships.
At this time Clive successfully competes with a team of showjumping horses including the talented Lux Z mare Lolita owned by Chris & Anne Day, Julie's impressive black warmblood gelding Traktion and the two exciting mares owned by the Lindh-Reed partnership Tra La La and Lilly.
We look forward to another successful year!
